Hi all,
Special thanks to Cathy Chandra and Yogesh Sharma for suggesting the
exact solution.
Infact the new patches rebuilds the kernel and moves to root
automatically. It was successful in first Alphaserver8200, so I didn't
check on the 2nd Server. When I closely watched the date of new
kernel(vmunix), it was old. The strange thing is that it has configured
all the Patches w/o rebuilding the kernel.
Solution to the Problem:
* Deleted the whole patch kit using dupatch, since while
installing I made it reversible. Checked the Oracle installer after
rebuilding the kernel, found working ok.
* Re-installed the patch kit using dupatch, went on smoothly with
rebuilding the kernel, moving vmunix to root and then reboot
automatically. After Reboot, found Oracle installer/ dbassist and all
other such utilities working fine.
Thanks again..
Vimal
