Summary: LSM Startup

Thanks to everyone for their help. My question was:

I just got a license to run LSM. I needed this because I got a new storage
works cabinet and I want the drives to be striped. The software for LSM is
installed and when I enter hwmgr -view dev - I can see the drives. I went
in and put a disklabel on each drive. I verified that the LSM subsets are
installed: setld -i | grep LSM and I also checked that the LSM drivers are
configured into the kernel: devswmgr -getnum driver=LSM. I then tried to
initialize LSM volsetup dsk5 and I receive this error:

volsetup dsk5 dsk6
lsm:voliod: ERROR: cannot open /dev/voliod: No such device or address
lsm:voliod: INFO: Please check that the LSM driver is properly configured
lsm:voliod: INFO: into the currently running kernel.
Checking for an existing LSM configuration

I checked the configuration and this is what I got:

# devswmgr -getnum driver=LSM
Device switch reservation list

                                          (*=entry in use)
            driver name instance major
  ------------------------------- -------- -----
                              LSM 4 43
                              LSM 3 42
                              LSM 2 41
                              LSM 1 40

What am I missing?? I am trying to follow the steps within the
documentation, but I can't get pass the initializing LSM to create the
rootdg disk group......??? I am running an ES40 and running version 5.1 of
Unix.

What I needed to do is build LSM into my Kernal:

doconfig
make sure the lines pseudo-device is lsm_ted 0
                                             pseudo-device is lsm
1
Save the old kernel and copy the new one:
     cp /vmunix /vmunix.saved
     mv /usr/sys/SYSTEMNAME/vmunix /vmunix

Shutdown and reboot with the new kernel. Once I did this I needed to do
the following:
     volsetup and/or voldiskadd
     volinstall
     vold -m disable
     voldctl init
     voldg init rootdg

Then I created the volume
volassist - lots of qualifiers depending on how you want your drives setup.

Created the AdvFS Domain on the LSM Volume
Created the AdvFS file set in the AdvFS domain
Mounted the file system

And then it was completed!! Hopefully, I did not miss a step in typing
this up. If I did, please let me know and I will update it and send it
back out again.
