Hi Managers,
V5.1 732 alpha
Samba v.2.2.0
I have a number of samba shares used for storing files. The samba
users have share level access using a guest account, so all users
can access the shares without having a specific login account.
My problem is that I want to be able allow all users to create files in
these share (and their sub-directories) but not alter any existing
files. Presently all the directories have drwxr-xr-x (755) and are
owned by a unix account. I find that by giving the directories (777)
any file under the directory can be altered, regardless of the
permissions on the file (inheriting rights from the directory no-
doubt). The files are chmod by cron once a week and have the
following permissions ( 755 -rwxrw-rw- ). From mswin, client these
files can not be altered, perfect :-), but they can't create files either
:-(.
How can I allow users to create files in these directories and keep
the existing files read-only.
Thanx.
Dp.
