Interesting (I need a new hobby type) question for you guys relating to
cache_flush_timer setting on HS* controllers.
On a system with many dual redundant configured HS* controllers on board. I
don't know if they are transparent or multi-bus (host assisted) failover.
They are also utilising mirrored cache - 64Mb. cache_flush_timer is
currently set to the default 10 seconds.
Now having noticed that sys_check always suggests raising to 45 seconds and
knowing that system default settings are often unrealistically low...I am
wondering if raising this setting in an attempt at creating an overall
increased level of perceived performance on the system in question with
regard to I/O rates is worthwhile or not.
I know how to carry this out but my questions are, in order to validate any
steps taken before taking them....since the HS* manual mentions an upper
limit of 65,535 seconds,.... where does sys_check get its 45 second
suggestion from? and does anyone have any experience of using the
cache_flush_timer setting...
Also...if anyone knows how to tell from looking at the show this and show
other outputs....if this is transparent or multi-bus failover configured.
