syslog problems

I have an Alphaserver running Tru64-UNIX v4.0f which doesn't seem to be
logging any events. The cron is running and creating the daily files in the
/var/adm/syslog.dated/dd-mmm-hh:mm directories but nothing is logged in the
log files in those directories. The syslogd daemon is running and I have
checked the file /etc/syslog.conf and everything looks fine but obviously
there is a problem somewhere. I don't keep real close watch on this machine
so I have no idea when it broke.

Any help would be appreciated.
