Machine: Digital Personal Workstation 500au, firmware level at 7.2-1
keyboard: PCXAL
graphics: 'Elsa Gloria' with 8Mb, comet0
During the update procedure from T64Uv4.0G_patch_3 to T64Uv5.1,
the machine reboots into single-user mode, executes the default login
script,
and appears to hang. Cannot enter anything from console keyboard.
Power-cycle, and reset boot_osflag to "A" (boot to multiuser)
Boot up
The update procedure carries on...
The Update GUI windows come up...
... subwindow opens:
" Dtterm warning: userfont or fallback font cannot be proportional;
switching to default fixedfont "
...cannot clear this message because mouse no longer responds.
Configuration carries on in larger window behind this message
Eventually a new kernel is built, and the machine reboots.
CDE Login window comes up.
Keyboard and mouse remain unresponsive.
Can log in remotely via telnet session.
Can also log in remotely with X-terminal under control of Workstation's CDE
(eg, Exceed + xdmcp-broadcast)
But cannot log in or use console keyboard or mouse.
Anyone know how to get the keyboard and mouse going again?
would a full install (groan) instead of an update, work?
