Hi Gurus,
I would like to thank to the following people for their invaluable
suggestions:
Kurt A. Ludwig, Paul Casteels, R Rahim, Thomas Leitner, sysadmin_at_astro,
Warren Sturm, David Bannon, alois8_at_web, tru64user_at_**
who have given pointers to the following free clients for secure copies between
a pc running win32 and a server running ssh:
1) WinSCP
a client that can be obtained from
winscp.vse.cz/eng/
2) SSH Secure File Transfer Client
a client that can dowloaded from the official ssh site
www.ssh.com
It is free for educational use and includes a ssh secure shell client
(i. e., a secure terminal). You can request them an academic license.
3) psftp
a MS-DOS command line non-graphical client, like the MS-DOS ftp client.
It can be obtained from
www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
4) www.cygwin.com or sources.redhat.com/cygwin
which includes OpenSSH (I have tested this but I think it does serve to
what I need, since I want the pc to keep running win32).
5) iXplorer
a client that can be obtained from
www.i-tree.org
and that works with putty .
We have chosen WinSCP2 in its beta version and the SSH client. Both are very
good and work as needed.
Thanks again for all who have helped,
