Progress of a sort ....
Thanks to Dr Tom Blinn for his critical analysis .. again.
-- Dr T
How do you know this script is running when the "You have running jobs"
message is displayed? What is the login shell? Is that string present
in the login shell or in any application invoked prior to the point in
the user's .profile where this other script is invoked? I've looked at
the /usr/bin/ksh binary on a V5.1A system and on a V4.0G system and as
far as I can tell, the string "You have running jobs" isn't present in
it anywhere (I did "strings /usr/bin/ksh | grep -i running"). So what
component DOES have that string in it? I don't know..
-- Dr T
Investigation has shown that the user menu script does not even start
and as Dr T points out the string "You have running jobs" does not
exist in the ksh.
Investigation continues ...
Any further pointers gratefully received
Kind regards
