Hello Tru64UNIX system managers!
The Tru64UNIX group is requesting feedback regarding the CPU "hot swap"
features introduced in Tru64UNIX V5.1A for the GS 80/160/320.
We call the features "OLAR" because we're engineers who need acronyms.
This stands for OnLine Add and Replace. Simply put, a CPU can be added
to a system or offlined/powered off/removed from the system with no
application or OS interruption.
So if you are running V5.1A on your Alphaserver GS80/160/320, we'd like
you to answer these questions:
1) Have you used these CPU OLAR capabilities on any of your systems?
2) If so, what are your impressions of this functionality. What is good
about it, what do you feel needs to be improved?
Also, Compaq Analyze will automatically "indict" CPUs and memory if a
specified failure threshold has been met. You can configure Tru64UNIX
so that CPUs can be automatically "deallocated" from the system when
Compaq Analyze "indicts" a CPU.
3) Have you used this "automatic deallocation" feature?
4) If so, what are your impressions of this functionality. What is good
about it, what do you feel needs to be improved?
Thank you for your time in answering these questions. We look forward
to your answers.
Regards,
Paul
