ICMP redirect kernel hack -- still necessary?

Hi Admins--

We have made the application of the kernel hack described in the link below
a standard part of any system management process that involves a kernel
rebuild:

http://www.ornl.gov/its/archives/mailing-lists/tru64-unix-managers/2000/01/msg00130.html

My question is this: is there a patch level or T64U release where this
change is no longer required or recommended? We are on 4.0F PK1/2 at the
moment, moving to PK6 soon and 5.1A later this year. Thanks as always for
any help anyone can offer.
