DHCP client issues

Well... I tried digging through the archives for this one, but
nobody that asked about it bothered to summarize. I've got a
DS10 that I can use as my workstation, but outside of the
server room we're all DHCP. I can't seem to convince this
box to get an address. I've checked everything up to the box
(plugged the cable into a linux box -- it got an IP just fine)
and tried both ethernet ports on the box. (both through sysman
and dhcpconf from the command line). It just sits there and
fails miserably. Are there any known issues? Anything I need
to do to make things work?

Thanks, I'll summarize so there's an answer in the archives
