Question:

Where can I find out what the difference is between the device special
files for my tape drive? For example, /dev/tape/tape_d0 vs.
/dev/tape/tape_d1 .... what's the difference between these? I know that the
/dev/ntape directory is for no-rewind -- I'm assuming there's some analogy
between the tape_d0, d1, etc. and the old /dev/rmt0h, rmt0l, etc. for
high/low density.

Answer:

Do a "man tz" - everything you need as far as an explanation is in there.

Too many people to thank individually - I got a zillion responses. THANKS!!
