Question About Optimizing Postscript Printing

All:

We use postscript printers exclusively on our campus. Some years ago, large
print jobs sent to the postscript printers from DOS/Windows systems across
the network would sometimes just quit printing half way through the job and
then remainder of the job would not print. An investigation into the cause
of this problem led us to find out that postscript printer drivers can be
optimized for various needs, those being: speed, portability, and size.
Portability was chosen so that the print jobs would continue to be processed
even when the network became saturated and there was a large amount of wait
time.

My situation now with out True 64 systems is very similar in that large
postscript files simply do not get completely printed. This happens when
the network is especially busy and does not happen when there is a lull in
network traffic. My question to all of you is whether you have this same
experience with printing on a True 64 system, specifically with Advanced
Printing, and have you had any luck with applying the same type of fix as
described in the first paragraph.

Thanks in advance to any replies.
