Hi,
I've got an AlphaServer 2100A that is no longer seeing both of its CPUs.
The only recent change to the server is that I wiped the OS (4.0f) and did a
fresh install of 5.1A. Under 4.0f, sys_check's output showed the following:
System Type: AlphaServer 2100A 5/375 DEC2100_C500
Number of CPUs: 2 Type: EV56 (21164A) Speed: 374 Mhz Cache: 8.0 MB ( 0 MB)
Memory size: 1152 MB
But now, there is only 1 CPU (cpu0) showing up. I've tried a power-cycle,
and even moved the CPU from cpu0 to cpu1 and cpu1 to cpu0. But no matter
what I've tried, cpu0 is the only cpu that it starts.
Since cpu0 is active no matter which CPU board is in that slot, I'm pretty
sure I haven't blown a CPU. I'm wondering what might be causing the cpu in
the cpu1 slot to not be functioning? When I did the OS install, I booted to
the latest firmware CD, and the "list" command showed that I was at the
latest versions of firmware, so there was nothing to update. I've even
tried putting CPUs in slots 0 & 2, but that showed only 1 CPU as well.
Any suggestions on what I should try next? Or is my next step a phone call
to 1-800-354-9000?
Thanks,
