How to restore root file system with LSM

Is there a recommended/supported procedure for restoring the
system disk (/, /usr and /var partitions) when they are all
AdvFS under LSM control? I can boot the installation CD and
mount the 'a' partition of the system disk. But, I do not
know how to startup LSM so I can access the /, /usr and /var
partitions to restore data from tape.

Why do I need to restore? It appears that the system disk is
somehow corrupted/compromised and _none_ of the files in
partition 'a' are trustable. We are not sure of the extent of
the damage as of yet, so restoring /usr and /var in addition
to / is our best option.

Is there a document somewhere I could use?

Thanks in advance for any help,
