Cluster contention

We have had several worrying incidents where one server in a cluster has an
unexpected problem and continuously cycles through the clustering join
command as part of its boot procedure. This has resulted in the other
cluster member locking up completely while this goes on.
(Error message: Warning cfs-kgs-submit-join-proposal. Join of KCH set
FS:ADVFS cluster_root
failing with 9d retrying )

We did at one time set autoboot off, which stops the problem, but means the
servers have to be manually restarted which can be a problem if on a remote
site.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and got any suggestions?
