My orginal question:
Does anyone have a howto for setting up openldap on tru64 unix for signon?
The goal is to look at replacing NIS. If you have any scripts also that
will allow the importing of passwd and group file entries, would also be
good.
I have seen the instructions for Compaq Internet distribution, but that is
for Netscape server distribution. The reason I want to attempt to install
Openldap is that Compaq is no longer supported by Iplanet. So I am
assuming that Openldap will do the same thing.
I am running tru64 v 5.1.
I have searched the archives but I have not found any howto for installing
openldap for signon to a tru64 unix system.
Any info would be appreciated.

Summary of Responses:
I received two responses from this inquiry. The intent was to be able to
setup a client on a compaq system using openldap. Based on the several
messages between Ram Rao ( A compaq Unix Support person) and myself the
bottom line is that you need the Internet Express software that is shipped
with all system to setup a compaq system as a client. You also should
subscribe to the distribution and receive updates if you plan on using the
software. The updates are $120 per year and are sent out 3 or 4 times a
year. The reason you need the Internet Express software is that it
includes libraries that allow you to make a connection to a ldap server for
authentication. It is part of the Security Integration Architecture which
is part of Tru64 unix.
As for the howto once you have the Internet Express software all you have
to do is follow the instructions on the web pages listed below:
http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com/docs/best_practices/OSIS_BPS/OSIS_57/LDAP/TITLE.HTM
Another response:
everything you need is in the internet distribution you referenced. ps the
compaq internet distribution uses netscape directory server under the
covers, though you will have to do nothing withit, the product does
everything. the readmes inside will cover unloading nis, and importing
into
ldap. I did a lot of testing, but this product still does not have the c2
password features, and I require those.
