To add to my woes with a DS20, the machine crashed with the following
symptoms
1. An ADVFS file system ran out of inodes (despite df -i reporting the
file system not full for I-nodes)
2. The kernel kept deffering i/o to the disk
3. All the other file systems then ran out of i-nodes (again df -i did
not say this but the kern.log did. I do not have the kern.log as
something has erased it after the reboot)
as a result of 3 the system became unusable and I could not even shut it
down gracefully and had to hit the power off.
It is running tru64 5.0 it is not patched upto date (I am preparing to do
that now...).
Does any body recognoise these symptoms?
Any help would be appreciated.
