The answer seems to be no we do not really need Compaqs help if we can go
straight to 4.0g from 4.0d. The typical caveats apply, have a good full
backup, read the docs beforehand and plan for the upgrade by creating good
copies of custom configurations (ie startup scripts, kernel tuning, etc.).
