Solution to my problem is to trawl through the /var/adm/messages or run a
dia -R or to use the utility emxmgr and to get the driver version for the
HBA use sysconfig -q emx - also to take a look at the uerf with "uerf -Rr

How do I get the specific details of my HBA cards in my Alpha servers
(specifically fibre cards) through the OS - I have Tru64 V5.1 PK3 on most
of my servers. The details I'm after are bus adapter type and firmware
levels
