It has all to do with SCSI bus speeds NOT with the RPM of the disk drive.
This is true for the old equipment which you have so you have to
accomodate this.
Bottom line: don't mix SCSI-1 with SCSI-2 or SCSI-3.

In my case all the discs are Ultra-SCSI so I shouldn't have a problem.
People also pointed out (as I already suspected) that you shouldn't mix
disc speeds on a RAID device.
