Thanks to Dr. Blinn and Seldon E. Ball Jr. for replying.
Dr. Blinn says that the Intergraph Intense3D Pro 2200 is not a
Powerstorm 4D51T and cannot be expected to work in my system. There may be
some subtle difference in the hardware.
I had read at the supported video card page
(
http://moon.havna-n.org/comp/alpha/hct/graphics.html) that this card worked
very well with the 4D51T driver, and also on other web sites that the card
was identical. It also happens to look the same; however, it does not work
in my 433au.
Here are some of the things that I tried:
The 4D51T patches from HP for tru64 4.0f and 5.1a ( tried both OS's
). The card was recognized with driver "ingr" (short for ingrate?) but
gave me a boot error initializing texture processor. With 4.0f, I edited
the sysconfigtab to turn on a debug parameter. With this done, the logs
showed that the card did initialize, but the screen went blank. I tried a
different monitor and got a message that the sync rate was out of limits.
So, maybe this card will work with some monitor on my system, but
for the $20 I spent for it on Ebay, I don't think it's worth the trouble to
keep trying. As a 4D51T retails for about $1600, this must be a really nice
card if it's at all similar. I think I'll put it in my PC and play games on
it.
thanks for reading this far
