HelloAll !
we are running an lpd-server for printer-spooling on an alpha100a with
tru64V5.1. We there are using the "coming-with-tru64unix-lpd".

Everything is fine but now we have one problem and maybe someone else
has faced that problem .... ?

Problem: a client want to send data via lpr but that client
is going through a nat ( network adress translation ) which is part of a
(linux)firewall. So the Client is not directly connected to the
network where the lpd-server is connected to.
The lpd-debug shows:
Nov 14 15:58:01 tinger lpd[6909]: DEBUG -- fork_with_retries: child pid: 11979
Nov 14 15:58:01 tinger lpd[11979]: DEBUG -- chkhost: entered chkhost()
Nov 14 15:58:01 tinger lpd[11979]: ERROR -- /usr/lbin/lpd: Malformed fromaddress
Nov 14 15:58:01 tinger lpd[11979]: ERROR -- exiting ...

Afaik the problem is that lpd is expecting a sender port with number
of 721 ..(?)..
But actually the firewall sends dynamically sender-ports
in the range of greater than 61k.
Because that firewall is something thats only bootable via CD and
quite unflexible we don't have any idea what todo.
To set up an lpd-spooler on that firewall is not possible.
Also it seems not to be possible to 'fix' the sender-port-adress of that
client in a lower range.

Looking forward for any
help/tips/insights/realizations or just 'that-does-not-work'

Rainer
