Sleep process hanging

After presenting my previous posting to some programmers, they responded
that the issue is not that the sleep processes are being orphaned. The
sleep processes are being orphaned because we are indeed killing parent
processes. But we are killing the parent processes because the sleep
process appears to be hung and that in turn hangs up the parent process.

So, has anyone had any experience with the sleep process hanging when used
in the format:

sh -c sleep 60

Using Tru64 5.1a PK3 on Compaq ES40 clustered environment.

Our glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.
