Problem adding a SCSI HDD

Hi,
        I've alpha 2000 with 4 disks and trying to add another one(on the empty
slot, it has total 8 slots). The strange problem i have is, when i add new
disk it gives LED indication just after adding it. Then when i say "test "
in SRM prompt it doesn't see/check the HDD. On the othercase, if i try
replacing any of the existing disk's(on the same slot) with the new disk,
then it recognises the HDD. Am i missing somethings here, like enabling the
empty slots to recognise disks. I tried "test all" too, but no luck. The new
HDD model is RZ28M.
