File transfer from vms to unix

Hi Admins;
I want to transfer files ( millions of them in several directories ) from vms to unix.
Which way do you suggest. İs there any tool that can I use. Several Ftp clients doesnot help us.
They did not understand directory structure or file versions in vms.
