Bus error when creating a file.

Hi managers

We are having a problem when applying a patch to oracle financials, the
patch requires workers that
create log files on the file system. When the workers start, a bus
error is generated, but no log files are created.

My system is 4.0f, and oracle 8.0.5 and apps 11.0.3

We have raised a tar with oracle, and part of their response is

"So apparently the worker logs never got created.
It may be that creating the logfiles is where the process is core
dumping.
The bus error from /bin/sh would indicate an OS resource problem.
Perhaps there's a kernel parameter like maxdsize that needs to be
larger. "

My questions are :
1. Has anybody seen encountered this problem ?
2. What kernel parameters could they be alluding to ?
3. The user running the process has full privileges to the directories
where the log files are being dumped.
I am not sure if this is enough info, but that is all I have right now.
Thank you

Darren
