Good Morning:

Thank to Matt Morris, Dr. Tom Blinn, Tomas Sjolshagen, Randy Rogers, Martin
Burton, and Chris Eckert.

The "p000> set console serial" and then "p000> init" should set the console
device to the serial port permanently.

I like to post a response from Chris Eckert:

Issuing the command, set console serial, will survive an init or power
cycle. Additionally, there is no problem with keeping the graphics monitor
connected.

My original question is:
I have an Alpha 4100 with SVGA controller installed. The SRM parameter
"console" is defined as "graphics". I would like to use a VT terminal as the
console device. How do I change the setting to "serial" permanently? After
"p000> set console serial" and "p000> init", if I recycle the power, does
the setting remain as "serial"?

In the meantime, I like to keep the SVGA/keyboard/mouse plugging in as-is as
the backup.

Thanks and have a nice day,

Warren
