   Hallo,
    I got 2 replies and one from HP also. Thanks very much. According to
them I can
    install the disk without shutting down the machine. I installed the disk
and system
    wors as before.

  My Question was:
  ==============

Hallo,

   HW : COMPAQ AlphaServer DS20E 833 MHz

   SW : Tru64 V5.1A

       Can I insert a Wide Ultra320 SCSI(36.4GB,10k RPM) disk in a running
system
       and configure it without shutting down the system?
       Whether I should run "hwmgr scan scsi" afterwards?
