Stderr/Stdout for daemons

Hi,

When an application is launched during system boot time (thru
/sbin/init.d/...), where will the stderr/stdout messages
go?...especially, when there is no explicit error redirection mentioned
in the application. Is there any system log file that would contain
these messages?
