We're running Tru64 5.1b patchkit 3 on all our systems. We are also running C2
security with shadowed passwords on all the systems except one. This one system
uses NIS users/passwords. I'm just wondering if it is possible or even
necessary to use shadowed passwords on this system. I don't know a lot about
it, but I know shadowing moves the encrypted passwords out of the /etc/passwd
file, and moves them elsewhere. Being this uses NIS users, the /etc/passwd file
is pretty much empty--so I'm not sure I'd be gaining anything. Any thoughts?
