Hydra was purchased from my cousin on the 9th of April 2010 for the sole purpose of running Virtual Machines. While my big beefy Core i7 box with 8GB of RAM is far more suited to the task it seems that the hypervisors available for Windows 7 just won't do the job - VirtualBox doesn't have integration tools for anything older than Windows 2000, Virtual PC 2007 is unsupported, Windows Virtual PC does not support floppy drives and VMWare Server is not properly compatible. So the decision was made to seek an alternate machine to run VMs on.
The machine originally came from ATC. It was running Server 2008 Enterprise last and was used as a Fax machine. As such it has three modems installed in it at the moment - they remain installed as it doesn't seem worth the effort removing them. The second 20GB hard disk attached to the RAID controller was too noisy so has been disconnected (it has remains in the system however). Additionally, it has a D-Link DGE-500T Gigabit Adapter installed.
The Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-6VTXDR. Below is a picture of the board (from the gigabyte website) and all drivers/utilities/documentation available as of 10 April 2010.
