Errata: The article on “Custom password algorithm on OpenVMS using SHA256” illustrates SHA256 hashing. This illustration is just an example. OpenVMS expects that password to be 8 bytes in length, whereas the output of SHA256 is 32 bytes. The illustration converts the 32 bytes of SHA256 to 8 bytes using custom logic and should not be considered as a SHA256 hash. The illustration however provides very specific details on how to write and load any custom algorithms on OpenVMS.
