We have an Open VMS System running on an Alpha 4/233 Server.
It is currently running UCX, as well as Oracle 7.
Attached to an NT machine on the same network is an
external optical jukebox tower. This tower is a virtual
drive, visible to the NT networks, but not to IP. It currently
running NFS, and is mountable by our SUN machines.
Question:
How do I mount an NFS volume in OpenVMS. Is it possible
to do this with just UCX or do we need Pathworks also?
One needs Digital TCP/IP Services (UCX) to mount a remote NFS volume:
the current version of UCX is V4.0A, and this version includes an NFS
client.
See the _Digital TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS_ documentation for
information on the UCX$CONFIG procedure, on the UCX> MOUNT and
PROXY commands, and on the system and UCX$NFS_SET_FS.COM startup
command procedures. In particular, see chapters 8, 9 and 10 in
the UCX management manual.
If you are making use of PCs, you may also be interested in enabling
and using PC-NFS. (This is documented in chapter 11.)
