Ask the Wizard Questions

Need marketing contact

The Question is:

1. Is printed configuration information available for the new
AlphaStation 255's? I need to prepare a price list for our company
based on these systems and I need to know the model numbers for the
peripheral devices that are compatible with the systems ( memory,
disks, monitors, etc.).

2. We are an OpenVMS house and are currently selling the AlphaStation
200 Workstations. I have heard rumor that the AlphaStation 200 4/166
will be kept alive for UNIX only. I would like to continue to offer
it as our entry OpenVMS System. Will this be possible or is the rumor
true? If it will still be available, will the model numbers stay the
same as they are now?

3. For Workstation-like graphics on an AlphaServer 1000 or 1000A
running OpenVMS, is the Power Storm family appropriate, or should the
older graphics adapters be used?

The Answer is:

http://www.compaq.com/alphaserver has some information on these:
Also see the Systems and Options Catalog page for information on the
   AlphaStation 255:

Since you are apparently a reseller, I assume you have a Digital
   contact for obtaining product information.

An entry-level system will continue to be available.

:the older graphics adapters be used?

   Either will work.
