Ask the Wizard Questions

Cluster: SWXCR in SCSI cluster

The Question is:

I have two alpha 2100/400 both with raid SWXCR-eb
we're trying to install a vaxcluster scsi interconnect with
two KZPAA-AA controllers. My question is:
can we configure the systems keeping the existing raid configuration
in each system?
If not, what is the propper configuration to install this vaxcluster?

The Answer is:

You can certainly MSCP serve the SWXCR raid devices between
cluster members, both if the system with the swxcr fails, all
access to the data is suspended. You can NOT share at the scsi
bus level 'behind' the swxcr controller. If the raid set disks
need to be directly accesible from multiple cluster members,
then I suggest you investigate the HSZ40 controller which offers
multiple reaid levels and can be configured on a shared scsi bus.
