In the March "Ask the Wizard" column, you answered a
question about Random Number Generation. . .and you cited
Knuth's "The Art of Computer Programming, Vol. 2,
Seminumerical Algorithms" as the definitive work.
I couldn't agree with you more; I've owned the three
volumes for several years now, and won't part with them.
(I keep hoping he'll finish the series some day --- he
promised SEVEN volumes!) Anyway, I digress. You
mentioned that Knuth's book is "very old", "1969(!)". . .
you need to part with a few dollars and buy the 2nd
edition. Also not exactly new, it was published in
1981(!). And where is the Mix compiler for OpenVMS?! ;)
