access from home for college student

The Question is: 

I am a college student at UW-Stout and we use VAX accounts.  I am
currently living at home and miss my school priviledges dearly.  Could
you give me some suggestions as to how to access this account from
home?  I'd greatly appreciate any help you could of fer me as I have
been searching everywhere and asking everyone for help.

The Answer is: 

This is something you will have to ask the administrators of your school
system.  You will need a terminal or a PC with a terminal emulator and a modem.
The details of how (or if) you connect to the school system is determined by
how the school has set things up.
