Self-Maintenance Engineering Changes
(Field Change Orders)

The non-contract/non-warranty customer will be charged for all FCO kits with the exception of the "S" coded Product Safety FCOs. The matrix below summarized the material charging for each code.

S Compaq pays for the FCO material
O,F Customer pays DECmailers/Factory Repair Cost Recovery price for Exchange, Parts Price for purchase
I Customer pays DECmailer/Factory Repair Price for Exchange.

FCO Category and Description

S PRODUCT SAFETY - A FCO issued to reduce or eliminate a potential risk of a personal injury or substantial property damage.
O PRODUCT OPERATION - A FCO issued to reduce or eliminate an imminent risk of significant product degradation and/or abnormal failure(s).
F PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY - A FCO issued to reduce or eliminate the risk of loss or degradation of a specific function within a product, or to restore a product to its original level of functionality or performance.
I PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT - A FCO issued to make a product compliant with new Compaq and/or industry standards, or to expand product compatibility.
