to my original questions:

1. how much memory can an AXP 3000/500 recognize?

  - 1 GB fully loading the Memory Mother Boards with 32 MB simms

2. Can I mix simms with different densities?

  - Yes, as long as the simms of each bank are all the same density.

I would have to take out some of my existing MS15-CA in order to install
the new memories, the most dense of which is the MS15-FA at 32 MB/simm.

Our systems were originally delivered from DEC with 32 MB composed of
8 simms at 4 MB each, but the simms were only populated on one side, and
had traces and solder pads for more chips on the other side. Hmmm...
