Great list, my turn to use it!
I have a 3000/400 running DEC Unix v3.2 with a EXAbyte 8505 and 8200
(5GB and 2GB) tape drives attached. I have a 5GB tape that I want
to make a copy of (rumored to have about 3GB of data on it in one
file). Anyway, I used the cksum command to get the length of the
tape(file), and it returned a length of about 900MB. OK, I say, I
can use the command cat </dev/rmt0h >/dev/rmt1h to make a copy from
the 5GB to the 2GB, and everything works, cksum </dev/rmt1h reports
the same CRC and file size on the 2GB copied tape.
Now for the wierd part. The tcopy /dev/rmt0h (5GB tape) command
tells me that there is 3GB of data on the tape! Whats going on? Can
I use the cat command to copy tapes like this?
Thanks,

Why ask Why:
If you tied buttered toast to the back of a cat and
dropped it from a height, what would happen?
