installing a non-DEC scsi device

'morning gang.
I know somebody out there has gone through this process, so
basically I'm just looking for somebody to shove me in the right
direction. We just got in this ZZYZX 2.1 gig external drive...I'm
guessing from the model number that the internals are Maxtor
(ST35550 if the memory serves me right) Anyways, it seems that
since it ain't a DEC device it is not going to have a device
entry along the lines of /dev/rz*. I got the thing hoooked up
as SCSI ID 2, and I can see it via a "show dev" at the boot prompt.
So anybody want to help me out here? I'd hack it out myself but
I got way to many other things going on right now.
Mucho TIA, and I'll probably post a followup this evening.

John
