Hi Alpha-OSF-Managers,

I am using AlphaServer 2100 4/200 with graphics monitor. I set the console
variable to serial, because the serial console is connected to an other
machine's serial port. When the Alpha is booting and the xdm starts, the
graphics login window appears on this monitor. It's OK. My question is:
can I start on console monitor to start a shell without X? For example
putting a line in /etc/inittab:
something:34:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty /dev/something console vt100

Other question: it is possible to prohibit the single-user boot with
password? When the Alpha boots in single-user mode, it gives a root login
without password. For example the Sun workstations have this secure mode.

Thanks,
Istvan Pecsenyanszky
