I have had 2 responses so far but I have failed to mention all facts:
Facts:
1. The System is Alpha 200 4/166 running osf V3.2
2. The system boots fine with internal disk set at scsi id 0
3. the system boots fine with internal disk and external seagate disk
when seagate disk power ON or OFF, and with seagate ID at 3
4. the system will NOT boot when DEC DSP5300S drive is attached to
the scsi port at the back of the alpha, DOES not matter if
external drive is ON or OFF ... system does not boot
5. When system does not boot, the command "sho dev" at the ">>>"prompt
shows no NO disks at all not even the boot disk
6. I am assuming, that the scsi ID is NOT the problem since the drive
is OFF and the seagate drive works when turned OFF and that drive
has scsi id set to 0 (not 3, as mentioned above - that a mistake sorry)
7. I have tried other DSP5300 drives, same thing happens.
