Hi OSF Managers,

Thanks to Khalid Paden <khalid_at_FNAL.FNAL.GOV> who sent me the only message
re. my problem. I do agree with him to turn off the power, which I already
did but just didn't mention in my mail.

However, The problem cause is different and is known to me now. It's the
SCSI controller. The installed ones are PMAZ-BA. PMAZ-BA is not supported
for DEC 3000 systems !! That's it.

Changing the controller Just solved the problem.

This is Khalid's answer

>My experience on a DEC 7610 running LSM is that you did everthing correct
>except one. The SCSI controller on those systems still goes goofy if
>you switch drives while the machine is up. LSM or not you need to
>turn off the power or the controller will loose its mind when the
>coupling/decoupling of the disk happens. I have a sable/2100 running
>the RAID controller with no problem. I can change drives while the system
>is multi-user and running hard.
