My original two questions are:
1) Is there any good software packages that will dial a pager on demand?
2) I'm able to use kermit to dail a pager number. The problem is after I hear
the tones from the pager, how do I enter the number which is to be displayed
on the pager.

who provided many great suggestions.
I tried to use kermit to dial a pager. It was a simple process. In my .kermrc
file I have two lines as following:
define \%p 91234567,,,111^M,,,ATH^M
define test set line /dev/tty00,set modem usrobotics-212a, set speed 2400, dial \%p
Then, at the system prompt, I simply do 'kermit -C "do test"'. This will dial the
pager 1234567 and insert a PIN number of 111.
I also looked into the command 'sendpage' that comes with the free software package
Hylafax that I have installed on my site. Although Hylafax works great for faxing,
I do have problem of using the 'sendpage' to dial a pager. It must be some kind of
configuration that I'm missing.
Is anyone out there having the 'sendpage' working?
Again, many thanks to the nice folks listed above.
