sudden ftp client weirdnesses...

If you say strings /usr/ucb/ftp |grep XXXX

You'll see that PASS XXXX is imbedded in the osf ftp client.

Under what conditions is that supposed to kick in? It is not
mentioned in the man page, and I don't have source. All of a sudden,
today, users on this machine can't use ftp, because after they supply
their userid to the client it doesn't even stop to ask them what their
password is, it just goes ahead and spews PASS XXXX down the line.
None of my user's passwords are XXXX :-).

I fetched an ftp client from another alpha on campus and put it on
this machine, it acts the same way...

Thanks!...
