Hi everyone;
  I tried to run "rdist" from an Sun Sparc machine (SunOS 4.1.3) to a DEC
3000 (OSF/1 3.2c), and got this error message:

updating host xxxx
rcmd: socket: Permission denied

  But it worked ok from DEC to Sun.
  Similar problem happened between Linux (1.1.59) and DEC.

  Of course "rsh" works between the machines. I was able to do "rdist"
between DECs and between DEC and SGI (IRIX 5.3).

  I suspect there is some version compatibility problem between
rdist/rdistd .
  Could somebody elaborate on this issue? Is there any quick fix other
than to upgrade the OS?

  Thanks a lot;

Wei Wu
