[Summary] Can't Login as Root

Greetings again,

The problem for I had this morning has been fixed. I actually got a
quick response out of DEC with the solution. Here it goes:

For some unexplained reason, a file by the name of ":0" appeared in the
/dev directory. That file needed to be deleted. DEC doesn't know how it
gets there as it has only happened a limited number of times in their
records. However, when this file appears, it basically tells the system
that the console is already in use (or something to that effect) and won't
let root log in. This isn't isolated to DU 3.2 only as the lady I spoke
with has seen it happen on a DU 3.2c machine. I'm not sure however if this
is restricted to Enhanced Security only or not.

Hope this information helps in case anyone else runs into this problem.
If you have any other questions on this problem/summary, feel free to
contact me.

Thanks for the quick responses to:
Murat Balci <balci_at_bornova.ege.edu.tr>,
Gernot M. Fuchs <gfuchs_at_golay.med.unc.edu>,
and anyone else who may have already responded but I haven't received your
mail yet.

Thanks Again,
