Hello,
I am trying to set up a data modem on a Alpha 1000 box running Digital Unix
3.2C.
This is a special type of modem which is constantly receiving data and
cannot transmit data. I have hooked up this modem to the first serial port
of the Alpha.
I wish to find out if the Alpha is receiving data on its serial port.
If I do:
file /dev/tty0*
I get:
/dev/tty00: character special (35/0) ACE_SLU #0 terminal #0 modem_control off
/dev/tty01: character special (35/1) ACE_SLU #0 terminal #1 modem_control off
Now, if I do:
cat /dev/tty00,
I don't see anything.
I tried running /usr/sbin/uucpsetup to set up /dev/tty00 as a Hayes modem,
but now when I do file /dev/tty0*, it only shows:
/dev/tty01: character special (35/1) ACE_SLU #0 terminal #1 modem_control off
I don't know what has happened to /dev/tty00
Does anybody have experience setting up modems directly connected to
Alpha 1000 machines?
I have tried phoning Digital technical support but have gotten very
little useful information.
Thanks.
